Nigeria will pay back loan from China in 20 years - Amaechi

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed that the loan the Nigerian government got from China for the rail projects across the country will be paid back within 20 years. In a statement released on Saturday, August 1, the former Governor of Rivers state disclosed that China is the only country giving out loans with a low-interest rate of 2.8 percent.

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has warned the house of representatives committee on treaties and agreements against continuing the probe on loan agreement between Nigeria and China. The Minister who noted that the federal government requested $500 million from the Chinese government to finance some rail projects across the country particularly in the south-east, asked for the suspension of the probe till the loan is secured. Amaechi averred that some sections of the country will suffer if China refuses to give Nigeria a loan to complete ongoing projects.
