Some monarchs under Iwo Traditional Council have called for the immediate suspension of the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi for allegedly assaulting the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa, Oba Dikrullahi Akinropo. The monarchs also asked police to conduct an investigation into the alleged assault and arraign Oba Akanbi before a competent court of law. Rising from an emergency meeting held at the palace of Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa on Sunday, the royal fathers in a communique addressed to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, called for separate Traditional Councils for Ayedire and OlaOluwa Local Government Areas. The copy of the communiqué was jointly signed by Oba Dirkrullahi Akinropo, Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa, Oba Abibu Adetoyese, Olu of Ile Ogbo, Oba Adekunle Oyelude, Olowu of Kuta, Oba Oyeleso Oyebamiji, Olupo of Oluponna, Oba Abioye Oyewale, Olubode of Bode-Osi, and Oba Ismaila Gbadamosi, Ola of Ajagunlase. Others are; Oba Abdul Kadiri Olatunji, Oluwo of Iwo-Oke, Oba Kaseem Orioye, Onigege of Igege, Oba Sikirulahi Ogunleye, Olowu of Ilemowu, Oba Tajudeen Adewale, Oloke of Obamoro, Oba Hafeez Adigun, Onikoyi of Ikoyi, Oba Asimiyu Sodiq, Ologburo of Ogburo, Oba Oye Alajide, Oloja of Agberire, Oba Alamu Oparonke, Onisara of Feesu and Oba Solomon Oyewo, Oonifin of Ikonifin. The communiqué read in parts, “And whereas the AIG Zone XI invited the Obas to his office in Osogbo on Friday 14 February 2020 to further explore the peace process, which was attended by two members of Osun State Executive Council. “And at that meeting, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi physically attacked and injured Oba Dikhirulahi Akinropo, the Agbowu of Ogbaagbaa, and a Vice President Osun State Council of Obas, in the full gaze of other Obas, the AIG and the two Osun State cabinet members. “We call upon His Excellency Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, The Executive Governor of Osun State to immediately suspend Oba Adewale Akanbi from office as the Oluwo of Iwo and Chairman Iwo Traditional Council for engaging in physical assault in public place, more so against a fellow Oba, an act unbecoming of the exalted office of an Oba. “That the Police should be encouraged to conclude their investigation and arraign Oba Adewale Akanbi in the appropriate Court immediately 3. That Government should create separate Traditional Councils for Ayedire Local Government Council and OlaOluwa Local Government. “That Government should kindly approve all pending applications at Ministry of Local Government Bureau Of Chieftaincy for prescribed Authorities for the Part II Obas from Iwo Zone, which applications are being frustrated by the intransigence of Oba Adewale Akanbi. “That all the Obas which Oba Adewale Akanbi Getting are recognized Part II beaded Crown wearers, like Oba Adewale Akanbi, contrary to his erroneous and 15th-century mentality that he owns all our land System, it is family that owns the land and not the Oba.”
