Clarity has been made in the controversial incident that transpired between Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Ooni of Ife, Oba deyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
A viral video making the rounds captured Governor Adeleke allegedly snubbing the handshake of the first-class monarch Meanwhile, the Osun state government released the full video in a statement to show that the initial video was doctored to smear the image of Governor Adeleke. A confusing scenario transpired recently between Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and the Supreme traditional ruler of the state and arguably Yoruba race, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife. In a viral video that made the rounds on social media, both men were seen at a public event. A short part of the viral clip captured a scenario where Governor Adeleke and Oba Ogunwusi crossed paths, and the monarch stretched his hands for a handshake. Rumors claimed the monarch got snubbed by the Osun governor. The alleged snub sparked a series of controversial comments on social media over the governor's purported behavior.
Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, claimed in a statement that the opposition’s agents had altered the film in response to the fury the footage had caused on the internet. The public was urged by Alimi to disregard the altered footage. The statement reads:
“The attention of the Osun State Government has been drawn to a doctored video being circulated on social media by agents of the opposition and fake news peddlers.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke and Ooni of Ife, HRM Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II enjoy the best of relations, as evidenced by the cordial exchange of pleasantries at the Palace of Osemawe of Ondo at the coronation of Senator Olubiyi Ajagunla.
“We are by this medium appealing to members of the public to disregard the doctored video in its entirety while we have uploaded the original videos for public consumption.”
