If There Wasn’t Anarchy When You Forced Yourself In, There Won’t Be When Court Removes You – Labour Party

This is coming after Tinubu asked the presidential election petition tribunal to strike out the petition filed by the Labour Party seeking to nullify his victory in the 2023 general elections on the grounds that he did not secure 25% of votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The Labour Party (LP) has said that there was no chaos and anarchy in Nigeria when the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu forced themselves into power, hence, there won’t be anarchy if the court removes Tinubu from office. This is coming after Tinubu asked the presidential election petition tribunal to strike out the petition filed by the Labour Party seeking to nullify his victory in the 2023 general elections on the grounds that he did not secure 25% of votes cast in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Tinubu’s lead counsel, Wole Olanipekun (SAN), in a final written address to the tribunal, claimed that the FCT was the 37th state for electoral purposes and that any other interpretation would “lead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature”. But reacting to Olanipekun’s claim, the Labour Party in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, said that Tinubu’s remarks were unnecessary since the matter was before the court. According to the Labour Party, “We insist that no amount of threat from the APC on the judges in the tribunal can change the processes and requirements that the law has put in place. It must be followed and that is the position of the Labour Party.
“Let me assure the APC and their leaders that if there were no absurdity, chaos, and anarchy when they forced their way into power, Nigeria will still witness peace when they are eventually evicted from power.”
