The remains of Senator Buruji Kashamu has been laid to rest. His body was committed to mother earth at his Ijebu-Igbo home in Ogun state on Sunday, August 9.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed sadness over the death of Senator Kashamu Buruji, who died of COVID-19 on Saturday, August 8. In a letter of condolence sent to the Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, Obasanjo however said the deceased Senator used the instruments of law and politics to evade justice over the criminal charges leveled against him in and outside Nigeria but could not evade death.

It has been claimed that the huge explosion in Beirut, Lebanon, that killed over 100 people and injured more than 4,000, was caused by a welder at work. Close to where the welder was working, there was "highly explosive sodium nitrate" confiscated from a ship by Lebanese authorities and placed in one of the warehouses located near the harbor.
