Governor Obaseki wins Edo governorship election

Governor Godwin Obaseki has won the Edo Governorship election which was held yesterday September 19.

Governor Godwin Obaseki has commended the Edo people for his re-election. He described his re-election as “triumph over godfatherism”. He said, “Words fail me in saluting our teeming supporters who displayed immense courage in the face of threats, intimidation, and brutalization.

Queen Elizabeth II to be removed as the Head of State in Barbados come 2021

 

Barbados has announced its intention to remove the Queen as its head of state and become a republic come 2021. The Caribbean island said it wants "full sovereignty" by the time it celebrates its 55th anniversary of independence from the UK in November 2021.
