One of the thematic preoccupations of the book, What the Forest Told Me: Yoruba Hunter, culture and Narrative Performance, (2014) is that, inside the forest, there is a consistent superiority war, often fierce, between man and animals.
...in every rumour, there is an outta of truth! | Droll | Scandals | Glitzy | Hottea | Gist & More.

Yoruba person willn't go against Ayelala or doubt the efficacy of Ogun''- Ondo traditionalists call for traditional oath swearing for politicians

Traditionalists in Ondo state have advocated for oath-taking traditionally by political office holders as a panacea to corruption and arbitrary use of power. The traditionalists made this suggestion after four days of celebrating the Isese festival in Akure, the state capital. Speaking to newsmen, the leader of the traditionalists and the Araba Awo of Okeagbe, Ayobami Ogedemgbe, said;
‘’Isese path is one we know that the Irunmoles uphold the integrity and if people say that this is what I will do, naturally, I do not think any Yoruba person will go against Ayelala or doubt the efficacy of Ogun. So if our politicians want us to fix this country and rid this country of thieves, I think one of the steps is to go through the Isese route to install them into office.''
Insecurity is weaponised for political purposes in Nigeria - Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala

Director-general of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has stated that insecurity in Nigeria is being weaponised for political reasons. The WTO director-general said there would only be development in the country with adequate security. “We cannot have socio-economic development without security,” she said at the 2024 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Lagos state on Sunday, August 25. “We certainly cannot have security without development. We all know that security has been weaponised in our country for political purposes by political actors, which has partly led to our current situation.
“We have politicians who believe that the best way to make their opponents look bad is to instigate insecurity making it look like they can’t govern, regardless of whether this leads to loss of lives and property of innocent Nigerians. “This has to stop.”“Nigerians have seen for years how organised crude oil theft on a massive scale seriously undermines the economic and financial health of the country,”“All Nigerians must agree that stealing of our national assets of any type is intolerable and must be stopped.”Okonjo added that there is so “much technology” to track crude oil theft and there should not be any excuses not to do so.
